The Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan, was the site where the first 2010 Dodge Viper SRT 10 ACR-X rolled off the assembly line. Expectations are high; very high.
Why is this special edition so exciting? After all, it isn’t exactly street legal…
For starters, the Viper is equipped with an SRT-developed 8.4-liter, V10 engine that comes with factory headers and a low-restriction exhaust system, exerting about 640 horsepower.

To take on even the most challenging tracks, the suspension has been tuned and upgraded all the while the weight has been decreased 160 pounds – compared to the standard production Viper. In addition, there have been aerodynamic upgrades designed to improve downforce, while improving stability and drastically enhancing grip in high-speed cornering.
Safety is high up on Dodge’s list as well, as the Viper ACR-X comes standard with a factory-designed roll cage, fuel cell and race seat.
Ralph Gilles, the President and CEO of Dodge Brand believes that “the 2010 model year is going to be unique for the Dodge Viper in many ways both on and off the track, so to kick it off with production of our ultimate special-edition Viper ACR-X is our way of paying tribute to the performance engineering expertise of our SRT team, combined with the passion and dedication of Viper Nation, to keep the tradition going strong.”
He added, “With its amazing on-track performance, the Viper ACR-X is going to seriously turn the heads of all road-racing enthusiasts, whether it is the grassroots driver all the way up to the professional.”
So how did the Viper test out on the course? Professional driver, Kuno Wittmer took the ACR-X for a run at Laguna Seca raceway where he consistently ran 1:31.00 lap times around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn course. What is most impressive is that Wittmer’s lap times were over 3 seconds faster than the previous track record holder; the street-legal Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. Congrats, Dodge! You nailed it!
Pricing for the new Viper SRT 10 ACR-X begins at $110,000.
