Bad guys be warned, there’s going to be a new sheriff in town starting this September: That’s when the 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit police vehicle will hit the streets, bringing with it all-new levels of power, protection and technology. In fact, the Charger Pursuit was designed with significant input from the Dodge Police Advisory Board specifically to meet the needs of America’s finest.

According to Connecticut Car Dealers, the foundation of this Chrysler Group crime fighter is its proven rear-wheel-drive chassis, which has been enhanced with a redesigned, performance-tuned suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, 18-inch performance tires wrapped around robust steel wheels, and a two-mode Electronic Stability Control system that’s been custom-tailored for police duty. The standard engine will be an advanced Pentastar V6 with variable valve timing for an optimum mix of performance and efficiency, while a powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 is an optional weapon in the Charger Pursuit’s arsenal.

To help protect those who risk their lives everyday protecting you, a full suite of safety equipment comes standard as well, including a wide range of air bags. Among them will be advanced multistage driver and front-passenger air bags, seat-mounted side-thorax air bags, a driver’s knee bag, and supplemental side-curtain air bags for front- and rear-seat outboard passengers.

Today’s police officers also often rely on tomorrow’s technology to do their jobs, and the Charger Pursuit makes that easier than ever. The front of its cabin boasts a “mobile command” interior that features a Dodge police interface module developed to make integrating police equipment a simple task, unique police-duty front seats that provide extra support and extra room for officers wearing equipment belts, a column-mounted automatic transmission with Auto Stick functionality and interior LED light that won’t interfere with the use of night-vision equipment.
