The Chrysler Group has had few all-new models to show-off lately as the automaker has been focusing on its restructuring and new marketing initiatives. And while Chrysler has not mustered much press in terms of new car buzz, the automaker does have one accolade to be happy about – the Dodge Challenger has been named the ‘most satisfying’ car according to Consumer Reports.
With 92 percent of Dodge Challenger owners reporting that they would buy another one, the survey provides much needed positive news for Chrysler. The retro muscle car has entered a market with intense competition from domestic muscle cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, not to mention import competitors as well.
Consumer Reports asked car owners if they would purchase their vehicle again considering price, performance, reliability, comfort, etc. This type of survey tends to be more favorable to vehicles that are purchased due to an emotional attraction rather than a more practical need. For example, sports cars tend to perform better than economical subcompacts. Oddly enough, Consumer Reports doesn’t actually recommend the Dodge Challenger based on its own testing.
Regardless of Consumer Reports’ own opinions of the Challenger, the owner satisfaction survey is great news for Dodge and the Chrysler Group. After emerging from bankruptcy, the brand perception has no doubt received a negative blow. But with current owners clearly content with their purchase, there still is plenty of hope for the Dodge brand yet.
Despite praise for the Challenger, it’s still battling tough competition. The Chevrolet Camaro continues to draw in customer to Washington DC Chevrolet dealers for its retro lines and efficient powertrains. Hopefully the Challenger will be able to keep up.
