Already well known for blistering quarter-mile times at the dragstrip, the Dodge Challenger set out to conquer a new kind of racing in 2010. And on March 20, just four races into its very first NASCAR Nationwide campaign, it was mission: possible. That’s when Justin Allgaier drove his Challenger to victory in the Scott’s Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn.
To celebrate the Challenger’s debut in the Nationwide series—along with its auspicious start—the company is offering customers a chance to win a one-of-a-kind custom ride that’s truly like no other. Well, it’s maybe like one other: The Grand Prize Dodge Challenger R/T will share the same graphics scheme that will be found on Allgaier’s racer starting July 2 at Daytona.
It’s a unique opportunity that even has Ralph Gilles, Dodge’s president and CEO, excited: “Following the on-track debut of the Dodge Challenger this summer, seeing a custom #12 Penske Racing Challenger on the street is going to be very cool.”
The only way to win that cool car? Entering Dodge’s “Challenger Chase to Win” Sweepstakes either by visiting the Dodge Motorsports website or stopping by the Dodge display at NASCAR races across the country. No purchase is necessary; contestants can only enter once. And they’ll have to do so by November 30, 2010, which is when the sweepstakes closes. The winner will then be chosen in a random drawing in December.
That lucky individual takes home a custom-painted 2009 Challenger R/T that not only looks like a race car but can perform like one, too. It packs one of Dodge’s hallmark HEMI V8s, good for a steep 376 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. With that 5.7-liter mill under its hood, the Challenger R/T goes from 0-60 in under 6 seconds.
And unlike the NASCAR Challenger, it’s entirely street legal.
